Meet the Team
Karolyn founded Turning Leaf over 15 years ago, and has been providing her clients with bespoke, beautiful gardens ever since. In 2013, Karolyn produced designs for the gardens at Raymond Blanc’s flagship two-Michelin-star restaurant in Oxfordshire—Le Manoir aux Quatres Saisons. As well as holding a First Class Honours Degree in Landscape and Garden Design, Karolyn is a member of the Society for Garden Designers (MSGD), the industry’s only professional body. Today, Karolyn leads our highly-skilled garden design team.
Graeme became a Director of Turning Leaf in April 2008, and as a Chartered Landscape Architect, he has provided oversight on scores of garden designs since then. Graeme has over a decade’s experience as a lecturer at nearby Writtle College, where he lectured both undergraduate and postgraduate students in landscape and garden design, professional practice and construction techniques. Alongside Karolyn, Graeme is also a Director of Turning Leaf’s sister company, Open Spaces Landscape and Arboricultural Consultants Ltd, which he has nurtured for over two decades.
Carolin has over 12 years experience in landscape design and management and garden design, having graduated in Germany in 2004 with a Masters degree in Landscape Architecture & Management. She has gained professional experience working for a number of landscape architecture practices and has been recognised with a BALI award for her designs. In recent years, Carolin has added RHS horticulture qualifications to her portfolio. Carolin is both knowledgeable and passionate about plants and flowers, and combines them expertly within her designs and planting schemes.
Tamae graduated from the Diploma in Garden Design and MA in Garden Design at Writtle College with multiple awards. With an extensive experience in working at a large NHS hospital to create the healing outdoor spaces, she specialises in therapeutic landscape design by utilising both Japanese and English garden design philosophy and principles.
Sophie recently graduated from the ESALA programme at Edinburgh College of Art with an MSc in Landscape Architecture. Five years of study resulted in Sophie’s master’s dissertation focusing on the evolution of play and playground design, which reflected in her final year projects and in her current thinking. After graduating Sophie followed a passion for plants and worked as a gardener in the historic gardens surrounding William Robinson’s Gravetye Manor before beginning her professional design career here at Turning Leaf Garden Designs.
