This modest sized garden of a new build property offered the client no privacy whatsoever. With Chelmsford City Council unwilling to set a precedent within the development by granting planning consent for an application to install slatted panel trellis around the boundary walls, the final design addressed the privacy issues via a superb stilt hedge, creating a private courtyard style oasis.
The scheme was completed with simple, bold structural planting – the result is a garden that always looks chic and well kept. Seasonal changes are marked with bold statement alliums which rise up from behind the neat box hedge and fulsome lavender that lends both colour and scent in the height of summer.
