The Outside-In Garden Hideaway designed and built by Turning Leaf Garden Designs has been awarded Favourite Garden Hideaway by BBC Two in the Garden Hideaways exhibition at RHS Flower Show, Tatton Park for its unusual concept and outstanding design and planting design.
The Outside-In is an idyllic, peaceful and perfect ‘garden’ shed for a gardener who has spent most of his life in the garden. Unlike the usual shed, the inside of this 6x4-ft shed has become the outside. All tools, pots and structures, which are normally stored and fitted inside the shed, are immaculately kept outside, as if by a tidy-minded gardener. Even the shed flooring is installed outside. But when the visitors to RHS Tatton look inside the shed, there is a peaceful and scented oasis…
The Hideaway has delighted and amazed visitors and BBC presenters alike, including Joe Swift and Rachel de Thame. With its iconic tree growing from the inside of the shed and out through the roof, the Hideaway was a favourite with the public, drawing keen photographers from across the showground, and many compliments.
On Wednesday 20th of July 2016, the ceremonial fork and trowel to celebrate the Favourite Hideaway was presented by Joe Swift of BBC Gardeners’ World, to Karolyn, Director at Turning Leaf Garden Designs.
Joe commented ‘It was so imaginative. When you look inside, it is a gem. We thought it has something really special about it. A really brilliant idea, putting tools on the outside and garden on the inside, and the attention to the details. Congratulations!’
Isobel Coulter, Deputy Show Manager, RHS Flower Show Tatton Park has also commented 'The Garden Hideaways have turned into one of the most popular parts of the RHS Flower Show Tatton Park. These clever spaces show our visitors how to upcycle their shed into something, fun original and thought provoking. Karolyn and Turning Leaf Garden Design’s Garden Hideaway is no exception with a striking and standout design.'
